The Developer
Corolla Boat Club is a project of Outer Banks Ventures (OBV). Outer Banks Ventures is a development Company formed in 1978 by Richard Brindley. Richard Willis started working with Outer Banks Ventures in 1984. Rick was project manager and then Vice President of Outer Banks Ventures respoinsible for Corolla Light Resort Village. Corolla Light is the premier Resort on the Northern Currituck Outer Banks.
OBV develops projects with upscale amenities and special features unique to the area and that drive visitor enjoyment.
Boating
Boating on the Currituck Sound is an underdeveloped and underutilized resource. The Currituck Sound was a historically important port for the East coast of North Carolina. The closing of the inlets led to no channel development and poor access to the brackish Currituck Sound. Duck hunters have long treasured the sound and locals are well aware of the joys of the Currituck Sound. THe sound features brackish water with no stinging nettles and a mix of fresh and salt water life.
The boating is unusual with little to no marked channels and shallow waters with poor access to the deeper waters to the Noryth and the South. Boat ramps on the Sound are few with some existing with very shallow water. There are several ways to to get a boat of size in to the Currituck Sound and this will be a goal of the Corolla Boat Club to develop access sites and GPS maps of deeper water routes to the Corolla Boat Club.
The Club
The COrollka Boat Club consists of a resort development situated on the banks of the Currituck Sound located 1000 feet from the Atlantic Ocean. The Resort has single family Sound Fronting lots and Duplex homes as well as commercial sites to enhance visitor experiences.The Corolla Boat Club includes a Sound front Club Room with access to a sound front restaurant and pool complex.
